EMS Career Pathway Act
Purpose:
Strengthen New York's emergency medical services workforce by giving interested high school students a pathway to EMT certification and careers in healthcare and public safety.
What this does:
* Authorizes Boards of Education to sponsor student participation in approved EMT training programs
* Allows eligible students to earn academic credit while pursuing EMT certification
* Creates partnerships between schools, hospitals, community colleges, BOCES programs, and EMS training providers
* Expands career opportunities in healthcare, emergency medicine, and public safety
* Helps address EMT shortages and strengthen emergency response capabilities across New York
* Preserves local control by making participation voluntary for both students and school districts
* Establishes accountability and oversight for any public funds used under the program
Anti-Doxing & Retaliatory Harassment Protection Act
Purpose:
Protect individuals from malicious exposure of personal information intended to intimidate, harass, threaten, or retaliate against lawful speech, advocacy, or political expression.
What this does:
Prohibits the intentional publication of personal identifying information for the purpose of harassment, intimidation, or retaliation
Establishes enhanced protections for individuals engaged in lawful speech, protest, advocacy, journalism, or political activity
Allows victims to seek rapid removal orders and civil remedies
Establishes criminal penalties for coordinated or malicious doxing campaigns resulting in credible threats or harassment
Requires online platforms to provide clear reporting mechanisms for unlawful doxing content
Protects lawful journalism, public records reporting, and constitutionally protected speech
Establishes oversight and enforcement mechanisms to prevent abuse of the law itself
New York Medical Billing Fairness & Debt Relief Act
Purpose:
Protect New York residents from unfair, unpredictable, and excessive medical costs while ensuring transparency, affordability, and accountability.
What this does:
Requires upfront cost estimates for non-emergency care
Prevents surprise medical billing in situations where patients lack meaningful choice
Caps interest on medical debt and requires fair, income-based payment options
Delays credit reporting to give patients time to resolve bills
Requires clear, itemized medical bills in plain language
Establishes oversight, auditing, and safeguards to prevent overbilling and abuse
Imposes penalties on providers who engage in unfair or fraudulent billing practices
Foreign Influence Transparency & Accountability Act
Purpose:
Ensure that elected officials act solely in the interests of their constituents by preventing undisclosed foreign influence, financial ties, or coordination with foreign entities.
What this does:
Requires full disclosure of any financial ties, gifts, or benefits from foreign governments, organizations, or agents
Prohibits elected officials from acting on behalf of, or under the direction of, a foreign government or foreign principal
Requires immediate disclosure of any contact or coordination with foreign entities related to official decision-making
Establishes strict reporting requirements for foreign-funded lobbying or influence efforts
Creates enhanced oversight and auditing to detect undisclosed foreign influence
Imposes severe penalties, including removal from office and referral for criminal prosecution, for violations
Establishes clear enforcement mechanisms to ensure transparency and protect against foreign interference
Public Official Accountability & Truth-in-Government Act
Purpose:
Ensure elected officials are transparent, accountable, and honest with constituents, and cannot mislead voters or conceal conflicts of interest.
What this does:
Prohibits knowingly false or materially misleading campaign statements
Requires candidates to publicly disclose their core policy positions before an election
Forces elected officials to explain any major changes in position while in office
Requires full disclosure of financial interests and affiliations that may influence decisions
Establishes annual public accountability reports showing actions, votes, and alignment with prior positions
Creates an independent enforcement process to investigate violations
Imposes penalties, public findings, and corrective disclosures for misconduct
Fair Credit Card Rate Protection Act
Purpose:
Caps credit card interest rates (APR) at a reasonable maximum tied to market conditions
Limits how quickly interest rates can increase on existing balances
Requires clear, upfront disclosure of interest rates, fees, and penalties in plain language
Prevents hidden fees and excessive penalty charges that trap consumers in debt
Establishes oversight and auditing of lending practices to ensure compliance
Provides consumer protections against abusive or deceptive practices
Imposes penalties for violations while maintaining fair access to credit
Electricity Rate Stability Act
Purpose:
Ensure that electricity remains affordable for residents by preventing excessive and unpredictable rate increases.
What this does:
Caps how much electricity rates can increase annually
Requires utilities to justify any increase above the cap through a public approval process
Provides full transparency on how and why rates are increasing
Protects consumers from sudden spikes in energy costs
Neighborhood Protection & Stop Overdevelopment Act
Purpose:
Ensure that private development does not overwhelm residential neighborhoods or negatively impact the quality of life for nearby residents.
What this does:
-Limits the size, height, and density of private school buildings near residential homes
-Requires buffer zones and setbacks to separate high-impact uses from neighborhoods
-Restricts noise, outdoor activity, and overcrowding near property lines
-Prevents overexpansion without full public review and approval
-Enforces compliance through clear penalties and oversight
